Pre- and Post-Treatment Care Instructions

Sculptra® Pre-Treatment Care

1. Blood thinners: Avoid aspirin, NSAIDs, and fish oil 24–48 hours before treatment unless prescribed by your doctor.

2. Hydration: Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment to support healthy skin and optimal results.

3. Alcohol: Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours prior to your treatment to minimize swelling and bruising.

4. Skin health: Ensure there are no active rashes, infections, or inflammation in the treatment area.

5. Cold sore history: If prone to cold sores, inform your provider; antiviral medication may be recommended.

Sculptra® Post-Treatment Care

1. Swelling/bruising: Some swelling, redness, or bruising may occur; this is normal. Cold compresses can help reduce discomfort.

2. Massage: Gently massage the treated area for 5 minutes, 5 times per day, for 5 days following your treatment to help evenly distribute the product.

3. Exercise: Avoid strenuous activity for 24–48 hours.

4. Makeup: Do not apply makeup for at least 24 hours.

5. Sun exposure: Avoid excessive sun, tanning beds, or saunas for 1 week.

Follow-up treatments: Most patients require 2–3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart, with maintenance treatments about once per year.

Results

Most patients begin noticing improvements within 4 to 8 weeks after treatment, with continued enhancement over the following months as new collagen forms. A series of treatments is typically recommended to achieve optimal results, depending on your individual goals and degree of volume loss.

Pre-Treatment Instructions

To help minimize bruising and swelling:

• Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before treatment

• Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, fish oil, vitamin E, and other blood-thinning supplements for 5-7 days before treatment unless medically necessary and approved by your physician

• Stay well hydrated

• Inform your provider of any medications, supplements, allergies, or recent illnesses

• Reschedule your appointment if you have an active cold sore, infection, or illness

• Arrive with clean skin free of makeup whenever possible

Post-Treatment Instructions

After treatment, mild redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising, or firmness at the injection site may occur and typically resolves within several days.

For best results:

• Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours

• Avoid excessive heat, saunas, hot tubs, and steam rooms for 24-48 hours

• Avoid alcohol for 24 hours after treatment

• Do not massage treated areas unless specifically instructed by your provider

• Sleep with your head elevated the first night if swelling occurs

• Apply cold compresses as needed for swelling

• Continue to stay hydrated

Results

Most patients notice immediate improvement in facial volume and contour following treatment. Over the following weeks and months, collagen production increases, resulting in continued enhancement of skin quality and structural support. Results typically last 12-18 months or longer, depending on the treatment area and individual factors.
